I was born in Darlington, County Durham. I went to Loughborough Teacher Training College and moved to Carlisle to take up my first teaching post at Belle Vue Junior School.

I taught in schools in and around Carlisle for 37 years, the last 10 years as Headteacher of Thursby Primary School, before retiring in 2012.

My only son and his family live in Adelaide, South Australia. When we can my husband, Paul, and I visit often.

I sing with Zing pop choir and am musical director of Carlisle Veterans’ Male Voice Choir.

I moved to Wetheral three years ago and began attending Wetheral Methodist Church where I was offered a warm and inviting welcome.
